Kaomojis have been a part of computers and Internet history since the 80s. “Kaomoji” is a Japanese blend word combining “kao” 顔 (face) and “moji” 文字(character).
Popularized in Japan, their use spread globally through web bulletin boards and messaging systems in the early 2000s. Kaomojis (⦁◡⦁) follow the same principle as emoticons :-), yet their horizontal construction provides a deeper design as you can combine more diverse characters always updated with new versions of Unicode every year.
Kaomojis are the perfect internet creatures: accessible to everyone yet controlled by none.
Many websites provide libraries listing hundreds of items from anonymous creators. Kaomoji Cool Club is an online freeware that aims to provide a new tool for constructing kaomojis. Instead of merely classifying existing kaomojis thematically, this online tool gives you complete control over creating your own kaomoji part by part, much like Doctor Frankenstein. Easy to use, the character database provided has been curated from the deepest trenches of Unicode. A nose made with a Chinese character… eyes with dingbats… a body shaped with Japanese parentheses, hands from an old Mediterranean script…and voilà! 𐂐【★盆★】𐂐.
